Here are some things to remember while you are role playing on this site. If you have a question about something, you can post it here and/or send me a PM (private message) about it. Let me know if there is something you think should be added. This list isn't done yet.

  • No magic power can resurrect a truly dead person.
  • Nobody knows where magic comes from - Sometimes it is inherited, sometimes only one person in a family has it (but there is usually an unknown witch or wizard in the family tree some where).
  • A squib (a person having no magical skills that was born into a magical family) may manage to do magic late in life (usually in a desperate circumstance). However, this is very rare.
  • Something that you conjure out of thin air will not last. ((Which is why witches and wizards need money.))
  • Most wizard children are home educated before Hogwarts because they cannot be trusted to keep their magical abilities hidden from muggle schoolmates.
  • The animal one turns into as an animagus reflects your personality.
  • Dementors don’t breed, but grow like fungus where there is decay.
  • You can’t domesticate a dragon!
  • You can do unfocused and uncontrolled magic without a wand, but to do really good magic you need a wand.
  • To see the Thestrals, the death that you have witnessed has to have "sunk in."
  • If a muggle sees Hogwarts, they would just see an old ruin with a sign "keep out, dangerous building."
  • Special messengers are sent to muggle parents to explain about Hogwarts when their child turns 11.
  • House-elves have powers wizards haven't got but wizards also have powers that house-elves haven't.
  • The Muggle and Magical worlds will never be rejoined. ((For people fear what they do not understand.))
  • Wizards can make themselves untraceable, which is why they can't be found simply by sending and following owls.
  • Prefects can take points.
  • Wizard portraits are not living or thinking entities, they are only a "distillation" of the real person. This "aura" can give advice or repeat catchphrases but not much more.
  • Ghosts are the spirits of people who were very afraid of death. They chose to be ghosts before dying. Ghosts can communicate more effectively with people than the portraits.
  • Some muggle items can run off the magical energy in a place (such as a camera working in Hogwarts).
  • Moving photographs are developed in a magical potion.
  • Veritaserum (a potion to make one tell the truth) is not infallible. It must be used on the unsuspecting, the vulnerable and those insufficiently skilled (in one way or another) to protect themselves against it.
  • Wizards have ways of making sure their voices are heard from beyond the grave.
  • Pensieves "recreate" the entire reality of the memory and are free of any personal interpretations or biases. Even things not initially noticed are recorded.
  • The four houses correspond roughly to the four elements. Gryffindor is fire, Ravenclaw is air, Hufflepuff is earth, and Slytherin is water.
