Impossible, or maybe not.

Aurora paced up and down. This couldn't be happening. She'd been feeling a little unwell for a while but it wasn't anything to worry about or so she thought. This morning though her fears were more or less confirmed. Another wave of nausea hit her and she ran for the en-suite. Once she had recovered herself she stood looking in the mirror. She was hardly mother material yet here she was and couldn't escape it. A million thoughts rushed through her brain at once. What would Roslin think? What would the school think? Would she have to leave? What on earth was she carrying exactly? Half human half vampire. How did that even work? Had there ever been a human vampire before? Was this thing going to affect her health? Her figure? Was she too old to become a mother? She was nearly 600 after all. The whole thing made her feel weak so she sat on her four-poster and tried without success to gather her thoughts. She laughed out loud, Aurora Lawson was finally losing her perfect composure, it was kind of funny in a way.

It had been a while since Roslin had seen Aurora, longer than usual anyway. He lazily walked around the school at first, looking where he thought she was most likely to be. But as time went on and he hadn't found her yet a strange feeling came over him. Well, it had been there, which was why he was searching for her, but he had been ignoring it up until then. Eventually, he even checked the Library and then his dorm room again, just in case they had missed each other.

Finally, he went to the stairwell that led down to the girls dorm. When he went to Hogwarts before it had been impossible for a guy to descend those stairs, but now that he was a vampire he decided that it was time to give it a go.

Using his vampiric speed, Roslin was at the bottom of the stairs in a flash and nothing had happened. He grinned and then pushed the door to the girls dorm open a bit. "Aurora?" he said as he peered around the door. Roslin spotted her sitting on a four poster and saw no one else. "Hey, guess what," he said with a smirk.

Aurora stared blankly at him. She had now gone into complete shock and any attempts to compose herself were failing badly. Her thoughts were still racing. So many questions. What would she do with a child? How does one go about raising one? Would she be as useless as her own mother had been? Would it be a boy or a girl? Would it look like Roslin or herself? Gradually her internal questions became less panicky and more excited at the prospect. She was sort of winning herself around to the idea. Then panic struck again, how was she going to tell Roslin? Roslin! Aurora suddenly became aware that he was actually in the room. She flicked her hair cos it seemed like the right thing to do and finally answered him. "What?"

Aurora's delayed response and the inner battle that she seemed to be having during the delay brought back that uneasy feeling that Ros had had before. "Uh..." he said stupidly as he tried to remember what he was going to say, "apparently vampires can get into the girl's dorm!" He held out his arms in a ta-da sorta way and then let them drop to his sides because he instantly regretted saying it at all.

"You don't seem like yourself," he said as he fully entered the room and sat down on the bed beside her. "Something wrong?"

Aurora couldn't help but giggle at him. He was so adorably childish sometimes. Childish. A wave of panic gripped her again. As he came over and sat beside her, she knew she had to make a split-second decision. Either tell him now or never tell him at all. She could just disappear and deal with it all alone. No, she didn't want that, she wanted Roslin above anything else, she'd get rid of it before she'd leave him.

Aurora took a deep breath and tried to steady herself. She turned towards him and took both his hands in hers. "Ros," she began. "I'm not entirely sure how to tell you this. I'm not entirely sure how it even happened. I don't even know if it really is happening but......." she paused to take another deep breath and steady herself. "It would appear that, after some careful consideration, I have ascertained that......" Aurora stopped dead, she suddenly realised she couldn't say it out loud.

It was painfully obvious that that particular moment between them was going to be very serious, so Roslin listened to every word that Aurora said with great care. However careful he had been in his listening, he wasn't able to get anything from it other than the fact that something had happened and it was most likely horrible. He simply stared at Aurora for what seemed like a decade, waiting for the sentence to be finished. Roslin's first instinct was to make some sort of joke of it all, but he thought that might be in bad taste. He pushed all of the filthy and/or rude jokes that came into his mind and said, "You can tell me anything Aurora."

Once again Aurora tried to compose herself. Maybe the reason she was finding it so hard to say it out loud to Roslin was because it hadn't really sunk in properly with her yet. Although when she thought about it she had suspected for a while, she'd just pushed the thought to the back of her mind as she didn't think it was physically possible. For either of them. But here they were and there was no point in losing it, that wouldn't help anyone. Finally pulling herself together, Aurora's shocked expression softened and she prepared herself to deliver the shocking news to Roslin.

Aurora smiled. "You might regret saying that" she began. "This is going to come as a shock Ros but we can deal with it, we can deal with anything." She hoped that now she'd finally recovered from the shock, her renewed self confidence would reassure Roslin too. She moved one of his hands to her as yet flat stomach. "I'm pregnant. You're going to be a dad." Aurora delivered the last line as gently as she could.

Roslin just sat there and stared at Aurora, trying to process it. At first he thought it must be a joke and nearly started to laugh, but then he was the sort to play a prank like that, not Aurora. He tore his gaze from her face and looked around the dorm as if searching for an escape route. Finally his eyes fell on her stomach where she had placed his hand. His mind was still reeling as he tried to process what she had said. Ros pulled his hands from her, stood and shoved them in his pockets. He quickly turned his back from her and gazed around the room, not really seeing anything.

Finally he turned around, "It can't be mine," he said with conviction. "I'm a vampire. I mean, if Vampire's could have kids then there would be vampire kids popping out every where. They are notorious whores you know. You had said that you would tell me if you were going to boink someone else...so, if you forgot to let me know, then please feel free to do so now."

As she watched his reaction Aurora realised that her earlier assertion of him being childish had been correct. He was reacting like a teenager. Then again, he was a teenager, living a long time didn't necessarily mean one grew up. She also realised that it was a huge shock and that his reaction was completely normal, she had reacted similarly herself, the difference being she couldn't just walk away.

Aurora supressed the urge to laugh at him. He was completely freaking out just like she had herself minutes earlier and just as she had laughed at herself she was inclined to laugh at him. She got up and walked over to him and looked directly into his eyes. "Ros, I haven't been with anyone else, I haven't been with anyone else in about 60 years now so either its yours or its the immaculate conception. Like I said, I don't know how or why, I didn't think it was possible either but here we are...."

"Sixty years?! I can barely go sixty minutes without!" Roslin said in shock and then shook his head and got back to the important issue.

"Aurora, I would make a terrible dad. My own mother asked me to never have kids when I was ten. She knew then that I would be a terrible father and she was a terrible mother! That's all she knew about me. And what would we do if it popped out and went on a murderous rampage? Scold it or pat it on the back and say "good job"?"

Roslin sighed and plopped down on Aurora's bed with his face down in the covers. "How are we going to manage this?" he said in a muffled voice.

This time Aurora couldn't hold back the laughter. "I'd opt for the latter to be honest! It would be some kid that could go on a murderous rampage after popping out!" she said. "Look, as much as you think you'd make a terrible dad, I'm convinced I'd make an even worse mother. You think your mother was bad, you should have met mine. Stupid, drunken bitch she was. They are both irrelevant though, they fucked it up but that doesn't mean we will, at least we know what not to do and that's gotta be a start."

Aurora sat next to him on the bed and ran her fingers through his hair, hoping the familiar gesture would calm him some. "I don't know how we're going to manage it Ros but freaking out and crying into the duvet isn't going to help. I think the first thing to do is talk to Alexander. He was a dad before he disappeared maybe he knows something we don't about children. Maybe he has some knowledge on vampire children I don't know what he's learned over the centuries."

Roslin just laid there listening to Aurora as she stroked his hair, feeling a bit more clam from her words and action. After she finished speaking he rolled over and took her hand in his. "Alright, let's talk to Alexander then. If he doesn't know anything about Vampire kids, Ed might. I've been avoiding talking to her anyway. Minus well get it over with."

Roslin sighed and looked at Aurora, "At least we have nine months to figure it out..." He thought of the countless amount of times he had had unprotected sex, which was every time he had had sex. He wrinkled his nose at the thought, "I could have a bunch of descendants and kids out there and not even know." He pictured the last place he had been before going to Hogwarts and imagined a village full of pregnant women. There would be a descent amount of kids born around the same time if that were the case. "Hope none of them have sex when they get older..."he thought allowed and then his mind dredged up little mutated part vampire children humping everything in sight.

Once again Aurora couldn't hold back the giggles. He was being such a drama queen. "Hmm, well if they're your kids then can you really imagine they won't have sex when they're older?" Aurora squeezed his hand. "I doubt that is the case though, I mean if it were that easy for vampires to reproduce they wouldn't have to turn people. Plus if there were that many vampire children going around the place we'd have heard of them. I think what we're dealing with is something very different from the norm. Which is rather worrying for me, I mean I'm the one actually carrying it, what if its my Achilles heel? In all my years and in all the defenses I've built up I never imagined I'd need a defense against conceiving a vampire child!"

Roslin pouted, "I meant with each other...that would be pretty gross. A bunch of incestuous half vampires running around..." He then shrugged and added, "Yeah, it's unlikely to be the case. I doubt the pregnancy would be that much more different from a normal one though; just stretch marks and skin hanging all over after you've had the kid and after you've lost the weight you'll gain." Ros winked at Aurora, hoping that she wouldn't try to rip out his heart and said, "Everything will be fine. We'll figure out what to expect from your brother and my sister. Then we'll figure out a way to deal with it."

If looks could kill, Roslin would be nothing more than a corpse. The very idea made Aurora feel sick all over again. Then she remembered that she'd manage to live for almost 600 years without any changes to her amazing body so why should this thing be any different. She'd find a way to keep herself beautiful.

Aurora smiled. "You've changed your tune fast, you were freaking out a minute ago now you're telling me it'll be fine. Does this mean you're going to stick around then? Be a proper dad?" Aurora still wasn't sure if Roslin was intending on being in this for the long haul. After all it would be relatively easy for him to walk away.

Roslin tried to smile, but it was more of a grimace. He had never planned on being a father. Had never wanted to be one and had assumed that he wouldn't have to worry about it once he became a vampire. "Yeah, I'll do my best," he said, trying to keep the enthusiasm in his voice. Ros knew right then and there that he would leave if he ever felt the kid would be better off without him. In a sense, that was what his mother did. The little bit of time that he and his sister had spent with her was never enjoyable and, although they hated her for being a horrible mother, they were glad that she kept her distance. If he didn't hate the kids that she was a nanny for so much, he would have felt sorry for them.

Nothing good could be said about the way Ros turned out, but Edolie had always been better off for it. Their mother had obviously favored Roslin over Edolie when she actually spent time with him. When ever she got back home from spending time with the woman, Edolie because very quiet and depressed. He figured it was because Ed looked and acted so much like their father while Ros had his mother's looks.

"So," he said suddenly, "wanna do it while we still can?"

Aurora actually couldn't believe it, this level of maturity wasn't like Ros at all but she was glad he was willing to give it a shot at least. She was also glad that he obviously cared a lot for her. "It might be fun actually" she mused. "We might even enjoy having a kid around. I guess we'll see how it goes"

Aurora stared blankly at him for a second and then realised he had a point. "Hell yeah!" she exclaimed and threw her arms around him.

Roslin ignored what she had said about having a kid being fun. For all he knew, she could be right, but he wasn't about to bet on it. For the moment, sex was a great way to get his mind off things and relieve some tension...even though sex was what caused the tension in the first place.

((Guess we should get to that Alexander/Ed/Aurora/Ros thread then?))
